Buffalo Hot Wings

Buffalo Hot Wings make a great appetizer, but at my house we make a meal of them. My daughter first discovered this recipe in one of her cookbooks then passed it on to me. These are so spicy good and much better than any take-out wings you'll find. I like to add celery sticks and ranch dressing for dipping. Serve these when friends are over or any time.

Buffalo Hot Wings
3 pounds chicken wings
2 (0.60 ounce) envelopes Italian salad dressing mix, divided
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1/2 to 3/4 cup hot sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dried Basil
Ranch dressing, for dipping

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Cut off wingtips, and discard; cut wings in half at joint, if desired. Place 1 package salad dressing mix in a large zip-top plastic bag; add wings, and shake to coat. Place wings in a single layer on prepared foil-lined pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until browned. Remove pan from oven and reduce heat to 350 degrees F.
Stir together the remaining package of salad dressing mix, butter, hot sauce, lemon juice, and Basil. Pour over wings; bake for 30 more minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with Ranch dressing. Makes 4 - 6 servings.

A few of the ingredients used in this recipe taking a bow.

Use one envelope of the Italian dressing mix to coat the chicken wings by shaking together in a zip-top bag, then place the wings in a single layer on a foil-lined sheet pan.

After baking for about 25 minutes, remove from the oven, reduce the temperature to 350 degrees, and add the sauce.

The recipe says to pour the sauce over the wings, but I like to brush mine on. Either way works.

After all the wings are covered in sauce, put them back in the oven for 30 more minutes.

Hot, spicy, and delicious.
