Keeping My Socks On

My feet have been a high priority in my life recently. They have carried me around all these years, and now they are asking for a little pampering. Actually, they are DEMANDING that I pay attention to them and give them the respect they deserve. A case of plantar fasciitis in both feet has totally changed my footwear this summer.

I have several pairs of shoes similar to these that give support to my limping, painful feet, but this type of shoe requires a low cut sock. I have bought some well-known brands of socks to wear with these shoes, but I have been disappointed that they ended up in a wad somewhere down underneath my foot.

My happy news is that I finally found a brand of socks that STAY ON MY FEET. This may not seem like a big deal, but indeed it is to me! This sock frustration has been huge to me. I have a big pile of those wadded, useless socks that won't stay put on my feet.

These wonderful socks that I found are by Vera Wang, and I bought them at Kohl's.

They come in black, white, and nude.

No matter which shoes I'm wearing, they stay put!

I don't have to worry about them slipping off and sliding down like all the other brands have done.

This brand has a band of silicone on the inside of the heel that secures the sock so there is no slipping. Impressive! Thank you Vera Wang!

Now I have a big pile of useless socks to deal with. Fortunately for me, my friend Anne at Domesblissity is one step ahead of me. She loves Pinterest, and has just recently posted 44 Ways to Use Old Socks. Surely there's an idea in there somewhere for me and my stack of sock rejects. Some lucky person may just get a sock craft from me for Christmas this year!

The opinions stated in this post are entirely my own. I have no relationship with Vera Wang or Kohl's and have received no compensation from them.

  1. I really enjoy your blog, thank you! Also, I suffered from PF for a long time, and found that stretching twice a day helped me a lot! It's the one where you put one leg stretched behind you and lean forward and hold for 30 seconds, then do the same with the other foot (runners often do this before they start). Do 2-3 reps, once in the morning and once and night. It's amazing what this can do for you!

  2. Anita, I feel your pain! Foot pain is the worst! Wearing softly padded shoes seems to help me more than anything. I'm glad you found the socks that work well for you.--------- Shannon

  3. I'm thrilled that you posted this. I had Plantar's a couple of years ago and it was awful. I ended up wearing Birkenstock shoes for a year - they were the only thing that didn't hurt. And socks, nothing stays up unless it's a "tall" sock, so I'll be trying these as soon as I get by a Kohl's! blessings, marlene

  4. Great that you solved this problem. I had foot issues with blistering for years until I got some Birkenstocks - they not only solved that but even toned up my legs a touch.
    Have a great week!

  5. LOL Anita! I'm the same. All those years of wearing high heels and summer sandals that offer no support have finally taken its toll. I like to wear comfortable shoes but with the heat we have here, I like to wear a light sock as well. I'll have to keep my eye out for those ones. (Thanks for the mention of the sock post.)

  6. Boy do I feel for you Anita! I've had that in both feet too and know just what your feeling. I also fight the same issue with the socks and now I'm glad you tried the Vera Wang ones so I can get some too. Thanks for sharing on that!
