About

At Aunt Nubby's Kitchen I'm dedicated to nurturing my family through cooking. I like trying new recipes, and I'll share my successes and even what doesn't work so well.  I hope to inspire a love for good food and cooking in the young and the not so young.

I'm the mother to three grown-up children and the grandmother to three youngsters. I live with my husband in northeast Arkansas. I worked as a teacher and a school counselor for twenty-two years until my retirement. I had always imagined myself working until I just rolled under my desk one day and died, so being at home full time has been a life adjustment. I retired early from my job because of Sjogren's Syndrome and autoimmune hepatitis. Medication has improved those conditions, but I was discontented being retired, so cooking is a creative outlet for me. I'm learning to enjoy this new phase of my life.

My blog is called Aunt Nubby's Kitchen because my younger sister started called me Nubby a long time ago. I was never known by that name to anyone else, until she grew up and had children, then I became "Aunt Nubby".  It's not a very beautiful name, but an endearing one given from one sister to another, so I'll keep it.
